Register of Ideas

I have an idea of a platform which holds an immutable register of ideas.

The register uses technology to prove a idea was generated, at the time and by the person it was generated from. It then records the idea’s development.

It seems like a simple concept, and I think the use-cases are valuable.

For example, when you think of your next million dollar business, you could register your idea before you share it with anyone else. Simply upload your materials to the platform and share a link. So, you will always be recorded as the originator and the other person recorded as seeing your idea. Stopping the other person trying to claim your idea as thier own.

This would also count as a register of prior art, with applications into patent law. To register a patent anywhere in the world, you first need to go through prior art checks to make sure no one else has had the same idea before you. If they have had the idea before you, they need to prove it. But patent applications are an expensive process. So, what if your first stage was not to register a patent, but to register your idea as prior art, so no one else can patent it.

A registered idea on this platform would also be useful to users as a revenue stream. If you are a prolific idea generators, but have limited resources to build your concepts, you could register your idea to sell it. Sell the whole idea up front, partially sell it to a partner, or develop it yourself for a future sale. Currently, ideas are worth nothing without execution, however this platform would create a marketplace for idea-makers, idea developers and idea- investors.

Lastly, as a governance mechanism. All evolutions and development of your idea including forming a company, inviting new members and future director meetings could be added to the platform. So, you can register your idea’s progress to protect it. Preventing any disputes on what was agreed at a certain time and creating a useful due diligence file for investors.
